Then and Now at Bethlehem Steel

On this page I will try to put then and now pictures of buildings and sections of the mill and show how they have changed. It is too bad that in most cases the 'after' picture is of a demolished building.

Blast Furnace 'C'

This picture taken of the still hot blast furnace 'C' in 1995 show the the true color of the furnace and pipes. They always looked sort of a dull grey. I happened on the next photo taken in 2006 and thought that a comparison of the 2 would be interesting. This picture I took on a tour in 2006. The colors are now turned to the orange of rust. There is also vegitation growing that would never be there when the mill was open.

Beth Forge Electric Arc Furnace Building

This is a picture taken on 6-23-2006 of the closed Beth Forge Electric Furnace building. It had already been sitting unused for 11 years. Click here to see more pictures of the EAF. This picture taken on 12-20-2007 show the same area after the surprise demo of the EAF.
