Rotary Dumper (Car Tip) and Ore Yard

These pictures of the rotary dumper and ore yard were taken in the summer of 1995 several months before the plant closed. The Garden State Central model railroad club, which models the mill on its layout, was given a complete tour of the plant. We were allowed to take pictures almost anywhere we wanted to.

The Rotary Dumper

Looking out over the ore yard from the rotary dumper are left to right MikeCurry, Rob Davis(blocked by Dave Organek), Dave Organek, Dave Albertson Rich (our guide) and Bob Judge.

More details of the dumper.
This is a pusher car that pushed the hopper into position. It was pulled along by cable.
Another shot of it. This is looking back down where the hoppers are pushed from.

The Ore yard

Rich, Bob Judge, Dave Organek and Rob Davis look from the dumper yard into the ore yard.
The whole crew entering the ore yard. The rest of the pictures are of the massive ore cranes. They had names painted on their ends. 'Faith' and 'Hope'. The ore yard was full of conveyor belts that took the ore into the buildings where the charging larrys were loaded.
